A basic guide to the world of dog colours

Extreme spotting

Extreme spotting, similar to piebald, but with very little colour on the body, sometimes none. It's not known for certain where the border between piebald and extreme spotting goes - if there is one. Maybe they are different extremes of the same gene. A great pyrenees is a good example of an extreme spotted breed, while for instance your average patched german pointer would fall into the piebald group.
